Mijas Pueblo is a multicultural town whose inhabitants are mostly foreigners. The Andalusian town is also called the kingdom of golf. Mijas Pueblo is famous primarily for its unusual taxis operated by donkeys. The idea was born in the 1960s, when tourists began to accost residents returning from work in quarries, whose transport consisted of donkeys. Their popularity was used to explore the city, which is why it is still one of the forms of ’taking a ride’ and viewing the city.

In Mijas, it is worth visiting several observation decks, which offer a beautiful view of the coast and the town itself. One of the most famous is located on Avenida del Compas, right next to the sanctuary of the patron saint of Mijas. The second point with a panorama can be found in the Gardens on the Walls (Jardin de las Murallas).

Another unusual attraction of the town is the Mayan Monkey Mijas Chocolate Factory, called the smallest chocolate factory in the world, at Plaza Virgen de la Peña 15. In addition to producing chocolate from natural, local products, it is also famous for its workshops where you can produce your own chocolate.
