The council of Oviedo is sometimes somewhat unfamiliar to us if we only think of the big city, the capital. However, as soon as we went out a little taking advantage of the wonderful public transport, we discovered a large council full of interesting parishes, full of services within walking distance and advantageous ways of living surrounded by everything you need. Located just 12 kilometres from the city of Oviedo, at the confluence of the Nalón River and the Trubia River that gives its name to the town and the valley, Trubia serves as the gateway to the Bear Valley. The town is especially known for its arms factory founded in the eighteenth century and still in operation, an activity that generated an extensive industrial heritage in the town. But it is always said that Trubia is somewhat steeped in the lowest part of the valley, and the villages that benefit the most from this condition, not as bad as it is portrayed, are the villages that run along both sides of the valley.

This is the case of Soto de Abajo, near Godos, where we only have to walk a few meters from the roundabout that gives entrance to Trubia from Oviedo to see how the views and the environment, to be only 10 minutes from the centre of the capital, are differential.
