The idea was born in the 1960s, when tourists began to accost residents returning from work in quarries, whose transport consisted of donkeys. Their popularity was used to explore the city, which is why it is still one of the forms of ’taking a ride’ and viewing the city.

Moreover, in Mijas it is worth visiting several observation decks, which offer a beautiful view of the coast and the town itself. One of the most famous is located on Avenida del Compas, right next to the sanctuary of the patron saint of Mijas.
