Just behind the theater is the Alcazaba - a real symbol of Málaga! The impressive complex of palatial fortifications was built during the reign of the Muslims and seems to be an extension of the hill on which Castillo de Gibralfaro is located. Until 1487, the Alcazaba was used mainly for political and administrative purposes. We will also see the former living quarters of the rulers here. The greatest changes took place at the end of the 17th century. Numerous wars and natural disasters caused a change in the building’s function (there was a hospital and a prison in this place) and its gradual destruction. Everything changed only in the 1930s, when the Alcazaba in Malaga was recognized as an object of great historical value. This title entailed a number of changes that allowed for the renovation of this place. The castle gardens were also revitalized. Today, in their recesses we will find fragrant flowers, beautifully cut hedges, charming fountains and narrow streams of water flowing right under our feet.

Beaches
